DC has been unsafe for decades. From the first time I visited in the 70s on a school trip when we were warned not to wander from a very small area because it was dangerous, to working there in the 90s and early aughts when it was much worse with more barricades, more warnings from the people I worked with. It would be nice to walk around our nation's capitol on a class trip or a business trip and feel safe.

Everything I loved about this country is gone: Free Travel, Free Speech, the Right to freely assemble (Peaceful or non Peaceful), protections in place to make sure citizens are not targeted by police and other government agencies… All essentially gone. When I was a kid my mom used to say the things we accept as normal "have gone too far." I would laugh because she was old fashioned and not understanding of how things were. Guess what? She was right. Imagine going to bed even ten years ago and waking up in today's world. What we find acceptable, people's rights, real values, ect; have turned our culture into a cess pool. Honestly, not too many people would want to live in many of our cities anymore. Yes, there are many reasons for the decay. Let's start with morals straight across the board, citizens and our elected officials. Complain all you want about big government.
