'Round Midnight | Paul van Kessel & Round Midnight Orchestra | Amersfoort Jazz Online 2020

Amersfoort Jazz festival director Alexander Beets is a renowned hard bop tenorist meaningfully nicknamed “the hurricane”. He plays with Houston Person, Beets Brothers, Round Midnight Orchestra, Deborah Brown and Saskia Laroo. Normally gigging the festival with a thunderous saxophone summit, this time he invites his friends from the Round Midnight Orchestra in a smaller setting, Dutch Jazz masters next to promising exponents from the Next Generation of Dutch Jazz.

Line up:
Rolf Delfos – Alto Saxophone
Alexander Beets – Tenor Saxophone
Ben van den Dungen – Tenor Saxophone
Sebastiaan van Bavel – Piano
Marius Beets – Bass
Tim Hennekes – Drums

Amersfoort Jazz is yearly visited by about 80.000 people, who enjoy four days of World Jazz, adventurous and improvised music, an eclectic mix of musical genres and cultural traditions from all over the world. Amersfoort Jazz is featuring 350 different artists at 18 dedicated stages, proudly presenting living legends as well as young talents and international laureates, who are introduced to the audience and a worldwide festival scene. Each year, Amersfoort Jazz pays particular attention to World Jazz from a specific country abroad. Amersfoort is regarded as one of the cultural cities in the Netherlands. Its historic inner city, known for its well-preserved medieval walls, squares and monasteries, is the ideal place for a diverse and dynamic music festival like Amersfoort Jazz.

In 2020 the festival was held online due to COVID-19. We proudly presented a varied program of World Jazz on November 20-22, 2020, live streamed from theater De Lieve Vrouw and De Observant in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. A worldwide audience enjoyed the concerts and broadcasts from the Amersfoort Jazz Café, free of charge, and people donated generously. Big thanks to all our viewers, participants, artists, stakeholders, photographers, technicians, volunteers and organizers. Together, we keep World Jazz alive!
